Joseph O. Wenrich, 78 of Jeromesville passed away on Saturday morning, August 11, 2018 with his family by his side.
He was born on August 1, 1940 to the late Joseph G. and Ethel Mae (nee Summers) Wenrich in Cumberland, Maryland.
Joe retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company where he was a supervisor and worked in quality control.
He married the former Judith Skidmore on June 13, 1959.
Joe was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cresaptown, Maryland where he served as the Awana youth program director for many years. He also served as a deacon and both the bus and television ministry for the church. Throughout his life, he was very dedicated to his family and very involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Joe enjoyed NASCAR, enjoyed watching his son race motorcycles, and fishing with grandsons. He was a devoted family man always very patriotic and supportive of his daughter-in-law and grandchildren who served our country.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith Wenrich of Jeromesville; two daughters, Jackie (Steve) Foley of Trinity, North Carolina and Julie (Robert) Brown of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; one son, Jeff (Patricia) Wenrich of Jeromesville; six grandchildren, Jake Foley of Trinity, North Carolina, Patrick (Laura) Foley of Lansing, Michigan, Joshua (Brittainy) Wenrich of Jeromesville, Luke (Macey) Wenrich of Ashland, and Hunter and Jason Brown of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; one niece, Toni Hunt of Waldorf, Maryland; four nephews, Dick (Sandy) Dutton of Beltsville, Maryland, Mike (Donna) Dutton of Sarasota, Florida, Alan (Vicki) Durr and Rodney Durr both of Cumberland, Maryland; and his longtime friend and cohort in crime, Jimmy (Patty) Skidmore.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by one sister, Cleo Dutton; a brother-in-law, Vince Dutton; and a sister-in-law, Jerence Watkins.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church, 14513 McMullen Hwy SW, Cumberland, MD 21502 with his son-in-law’s officiating, Stephen Foley and Robert Brown officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
