Donald S. Vermilya, 71,
Donald S. Vermilya, a beloved father and grandfather, 71, of Ashland passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 in his home.
He was born June 22, 1939 to the late Don and Fayma (nee Struble) Vermilya in Ashland. Donald has resided in Ashland County all of his life and graduated from Ashland High School in 1957.
Donald was employed as a land surveyor, previously at Raike and Associates for many years and most recently with Poggemyer Design Group.
He spent most of his time being involved in his children and grandchildren’s activities including 4H and coaching his son’s baseball team.
Donald enjoyed his bowling and golf leagues, being a 4H leader, motorcycles, fishing, bird watching, and raising pigs. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 1360 in Ashland and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Laura (Holly) Vermilya of Columbus; 3 sons, David (Hollie) Vermilya of Polk, John (Angie) Vermilya of Jeromesville and Alan (Cathy) Vermilya of Loudonville; 9 grandchildren; one sister, Susan Eastman of Mercedes, TX; and one brother, Stephen (Vivian) Vermilya of Ashland.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents.
Private graveside services will be held, Thursday, September 23, 2010 in the Polk Cemetery with Reverend Dan Bilkert officiating.
