Little known acts of kindness.

As the youngest and newest Cooper Group member, there was a stretch of years when I was the only one playing from the back tees. And those who know this group's members, they play fast! So my being "behind" everyone on every hole was isolating. But it was Ted, and only Ted, who routinely stayed back with me as and until I'd hit my tee shots. It always helped me relax, and it was characteristically kind of him to do this. On occasion I would even hit a good tee shot, and in those rare moments, Ted always complimented me in the same way, in Ted's classic style. He'd say, "Well that looks like one of MY shots!" I will always value his friendship and his willingness to do anything for his friends. And more than anything, Ted was all about Theresa. Though he may not have welcomed the fact that she was a better player than he was, I always knew that he knew just how lucky he was to be her husband. I will miss Ted on and off the course.
